Core features
Ophixor combines visual design with structured data and logic, giving you full control over how your application works.
Components
All components in Ophixor are basic building blocks from which you create your graphical user interface. You can think of them as Lego blocks.
Templates
A template has a name and a component. The component can have data sources, expressions and actions. You can create these yourself and reuse them.
Models and data
A model is a schema that describes the structure and rules that data created for that model must follow. Data is the content that you can view.
Expressions
An expression is a constant or a function with zero or more parameter arguments that returns a value.
Data sources
A data source can be attached to a component instance in order to make the component instance and its children more dynamic.
Actions
An action is a procedure with zero or more parameter arguments that execute some operations.
Integrations
An integration is a set of endpoints. Each endpoint is configured with a schema that describes the data structure.
Users
A website can have its own users. Templates for signing up and signing in exists. You can also create your own.
WebSockets
The platform has support for WebSockets which allows you to create applications with data in realtime.
Design
You can change many global CSS variables for colors, shadows and typographic properties like font family, font size and font weight.
Export
You can export static versions of your pages as clean HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The export pipeline is currently limited.
Performance
Performance is crucial and this is something that is focused on a lot. A page should load fast and not lag. It should not matter what device you are on.
About Ophixor
Most websites and web applications share the same or a similar foundation. This foundation consists of many different aspects, like the graphical user interface with which the user interacts. For many interactions to be meaningful, there needs to be some form of global data persistence (or storage) involved. If a user of a website wants to change his or her bio, the bio needs to be stored somewhere, such that other users can see the change. Sometimes you would like to have a chat feature on your website. This will require the use of some bidirectional communications protocol, like WebSockets. So far we have covered aspects like the graphical user interface, the database, user accounts with user authentication and WebSockets. These and others are what Ophixor is about. The foundational aspects of building a website or a web application. Because Ophixor is like a visual development environment where you do everything from your web browser, you avoid tedious work when updating your server. Instead of compiling the code, copying the new files to the server and restarting the website on the server, you just make a change, save and publish.
Right now Ophixor is in a beta phase and is actively being developed. You cannot purchase a subscription and when this will be available is not known at this point in time.
At first the project was called PageCraft. But that name was already used by many projects, so it was changed to Ophixor. The name is unique and does not mean anything.
